I’m Victoria. I’m a jeweller by trade — now I make edible ones.

Every berry is dipped and painted by me, and my husband and I do the driving. When you write to me, you are writing to the person holding the brush.

Same work, different material

Jewellery taught me two things that turned out to matter more than any recipe. The first is that the edge of a thing is where people look: a clean line reads as care, a rough one reads as haste. The second is that you cannot hide a shortcut in something small.

A dipped strawberry is small. The line where chocolate meets fruit is the edge people look at. So I dip one berry at a time, by hand, on the morning it goes out, and I paint the colour on afterwards with cocoa butter, the way you would set a stone rather than glue it.

Why one person

Because the alternative is making them the day before. Fresh berries in chocolate have a window measured in hours, and the only way to stay inside it is to make the box on the day and drive it out the same day. That limits how many I can do, and I would rather be limited than be a shop that stores fruit.

What I promise, and what I don’t

  • Made the day it is delivered, never before.
  • Driven to the door by me or by my husband.
  • A photo of your box before it leaves.
  • One card, cut to the shape of the occasion.
  • No courier, no overnight, no other city.
  • No handwriting on the card: a plotter cuts and letters it, and it looks better.
  • No stock photography standing in for your box.
  • No discounts, because the price is the work.
